Welcome Saxons  –  Joel E. Ferris High School Class of 1968

The Joel E. Ferris High School Class of 1968 fifty year reunion weekend took place on August 24 – 26, 2018.  The weekend activities began Friday evening with a meet and greet at Luigi’s Italian Restaurant where former classmates renewed old friendships and made new ones as well.  Saturday morning featured a tour of the new Ferris High School conducted by its current Principal, Ken Schutz.  The 2019 Ferris cheerleaders cordially greeted  our former 1968 cheerleaders and classmates at the door and assisted Mr. Schutz in the tour activities.  Participants were next taken on a city bus tour by ’68 graduate Laurie Huber Scheffler.  It was a special treat to have a guided tour of our beloved hometown given by one of our own.   The main Davenport event took place that evening in the historic hotel’s ornate Marie Antoinette Room.  We were treated to a fine buffet, a video program, and music from our high school years provided by Master of Ceremonies and fellow ’68 graduate Don Swanson.  It truly was a special event and held in a venue dear to so many of our fellow classmates hearts.  Finally, we enjoyed a Sunday picnic in Manito Park with our former rivals and old friends from Lewis and Clark High School’s class of 1968.  Thank you LaRue Highsmith for helping to make that happen.  The Ferris class of 1968 Reunion Weekend was a milestone in our lives and one we will never forget.  Thank you Shelby Gates and the Ferris ’68 reunion committee for a job well done..
